After six days of the return of federal taxes (PIS/COFINS) on fuel, the average price of gasoline rose 3.3% at service stations throughout Brazil. The survey released by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) shows that a liter of the product went from R$ 5.08 to R$ 5.25 between February 26th and the 4th of this month. The reinstatement came into effect on the 1st

“We are only going to have a more reliable reading of the impact of the return of taxes on gasoline and ethanol in the measurement of the ANP next week, when the effect of the reeneration in the week will be full”, says the partner and director of the consultancy Centro Brasileiro of Infrastructure and Energy, Bruno Pascon.

According to the government, the price of a liter of gasoline should immediately incorporate approximately R$ 0.47 referring to taxes, while that of ethanol, R$ 0.02. However, with the reduction of R$ 0.13 in the value of gasoline sold by Petrobras refineries to distributors, the increase in gasoline should be R$ 0.34.

Free from the reencumbrance until January 2024, the S-10 diesel saw the average price drop by 0.5% at stations across the country, according to the ANP. A liter of raw material cost, on average, R$ 6.02 between February 26 and March 4, compared to R$ 6.05 recorded in the previous seven days. This new drop in the consumer price of S-10 diesel is a direct effect of the 1.95% (or R$ 0.08) reduction in the price charged at Petrobras refineries since the 1st of last year.
