Ateliê 23 presents “Ouve de Natal” at Teatro da Instacção

This Sunday (17th), starting at 7pm, Ateliê 23 presents the “Ouve de Natal” project, at Teatro da Instacção (Rua Frei José dos Inocentes, in the Center), with free access. The musical is part of the program for Mundo Encantado do Natal, promoted by the Government of Amazonas through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy. The classification is 14 years old.

According to Eric Lima, who shares the direction of the company with Taciano Soares, “Ouve de Natal” features in its repertoire songs from shows such as “Cabaré Chinelo”, “Helena”, “Da Silva”, “A Mulher que Desaprendeu a Dançar”, the short films “Ensaio de Despedida” and “A Bela é Poc”, and Christmas songs.

“The project will present Ateliê 23’s plans for next year, with songs from works that will return and also from premieres, which is the case with ‘Sebastião’. For 2024, our schedule is very full and this show is a taste of what’s to come”,

advances the artist.

Eric Lima defines the musical as a party to end the year in which the group celebrated ten years of acting in the Amazonian theater and as a thank you to the public.

“It will be a celebration of gratitude for the wonderful year we had, of reception, of contact with the public and to open the way in 2024”,

comments the actor and composer of Ateliê 23.

In addition to Eric Lima, who also directs the musical, the vocals include Vivian Oliveira, Sarah Margarido and Guilherme Bonates. In the band are Stivisson Menezes, Yago Reis and Ediel Castro. The lighting is by Titto Silva and technical support by Fernanda Seixas.

Award-winning group

This year, Ateliê 23 won in two categories of the 22nd Cenym National Theater Award, from the Academy of Arts in Theater of Brazil, “Best Company” and “Best Costume Design”, with the show “Cabaré Chinelo”. The play, which was a critical and public success, was also nominated for “Best Cast” in this edition.

At the 17th Amazon Theater Festival, held in October, “Cabaré Chinelo” won three awards: “Best Show”, “Direction” and “Best Costume Design”. The play was also nominated in the categories “Best Actress”, with Vivian Oliveira, “Best Actor” and “Soundtrack”, with Eric Lima.

In 2023, the company also won the award for best national performance at the 8th International Film Festival of Sexual and Gender Diversity of Goiás, with the character Belinho, played by Taciano Soares in the film “A Bela é Poc”, the group’s first short film. .

The main characteristic of Ateliê 23 is working with real stories, the subject of the PhD thesis “Scenic Bionarratives: Devices of Commotion in Works of Ateliê 23”, defended by director Taciano Soares at the Federal University of Bahia.

The short films “Ensaio de Despedida”, from 2023, and “A Bela é Poc”, 2021, are available on YouTube (@atelie23).

“Ensaio de Despedida”, a film included in the Feliciano Lana Prize, one of the emergency actions of the Aldir Blanc Law, was released in August this year, during the Amazon Film Festival – Olhar do Norte. Lasting 20 minutes, the audiovisual project is an adaptation of the show created in 2017 based on research into liquid relationships and abusive relationships.

The story revolves around a couple who are ending their relationship and, at that moment, they relive different phases of the relationship and the violence they did to each other during the period they were together.

Since its premiere, in October 2021, at Teatro Amazonas, the short “A Bela é Poc” has been circulating at festivals, such as Circuito Penedo de Cinema, in Alagoas; 2022 edition of the Amazon Film Festival – Olhar do Norte, in the capital of Amazonas; Shorts México, one of the biggest short film festivals in Latin America; and KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, an annual LGBT event that takes place in Mumbai, India. The film, which is part of a project that includes the clip “Glowria” and the video dance “Azul”, also participated in the “Cultural Expedition”, run by the Government of Amazonas through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy, and was shown in nine cities in the interior.

The plot tells the story of Belinho, a gay man who dreams of being an artist, but is a victim of homophobia and violence.
