Expecting 20,000 people, the structure that will house the second edition of South Summit Brazil, from March 29th to 31st, is being built on the banks of the Guaíba River, in Porto Alegre. The movement of workers in the warehouses of the Pier was intense on the morning of this Thursday (23).
In an area of 22,000 square meters, 450 workers set up the eight stages where around 700 speakers will address the most diverse faces of technology and global innovation. This year, 100 investment funds are participating, in addition to 2,020 startups from 86 countries.
Guided by sustainability, concern for the environment begins with construction, which follows environmentally responsible and efficient processes: from project planning to operation, maintenance, renovation and demolition. The frames of the futuristic geodesic spaces that will house the partner companies, for example, are made of reused material and the covering canvases will turn into sleeping bags when disassembled.
To ensure an even more satisfactory experience than last year, the CEO of the event, Thiago Ribeiro, highlights a series of changes made based on the observation of visitors in 2022. One of the measures was to separate the startups fair (marketplace) from stages, leaving the latter in exclusive spaces, since the parallel conversations disturbed the acoustics. In addition, a series of technical adjustments were made in order to qualify the local acoustics.
“The Pier is a heritage listed place, and that imposes some limitations on us. In view of this, we expanded the covered and seating spaces by 30%, which will certainly improve the experience in case of rain. We also improved the circulation, mobility and accessibility of the areas”, emphasizes the CEO.
Ribeiro also claims to have resolved another point of complaint from attendees of the last edition: the lack of an area with fruit and water, as is common in events of this type. “We will have four food courts with a wide range of items, including fruit”, he stresses.
With the aim of attracting the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem, the organization of South Summit Brazil, which is part of the UN Global Compact Brazil Network, seeks to consolidate and expand operations with those who want to invest money in innovative business models for the development of new solutions and consequent financial feedback.
In addition to Cais Mauá, many activities will be carried out in other regions of the city, enabling greater integration and expansion of the physical and cultural space. The schedule includes parallel activities in other parts of the city.
