Artists from Manaus can register cultural projects after the launch of new notices

Two notices totaling R$16 million will sponsor more than 346 projects in the artistic segments

Manaus (AM) – With the launch of the Paulo Gustavo Law (LPG) notices held on Tuesday (19), by the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, local artists are able to register cultural projects, opening the competition for registration, evaluation, payment of projects in the audiovisual and other multilingual segments, until the end of this year. After carrying out all the preparatory stages in recent months, the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult) and the Municipal Council of Culture (Concultura), in partnership with the federal government, launched two notices totaling R$ 16 million , to sponsor more than 346 projects in the artistic segments.

Of these, R$11.71 million will be allocated to audiovisual projects; the other arts: theater and circus, ethnic culture, popular culture, visual arts, literature, music and dance receive R$4.3 million. The projects will go through a selection process of analysis and payment of the recipients until the end of the year.

The coordinator of LPG’s preparatory actions in Manaus, Neilo Batista, vice-president of Concultura, followed all preparatory actions with peripheral and rural communities. He reinforced that in Manaus the LPG has been especially inclusive, as the Ministry of Culture (MinC) recommended.

“Our relationship with the artistic segments and the population has been close since the beginning of the David Almeida administration, and now, with the implementation of the Paulo Gustavo Law, our interface with society has matured and we have reached places where resources never reached, such as indigenous communities, riverside and rural”,

Neilo recalled.

Local artists

Singer and songwriter, Jander Manauara, cultural agitator and activist in the Hip Hop scene, stated that the LPG was highly anticipated by Hip Hop artists who, according to him, are technically prepared to compete.

“It was very well organized and prepared in terms of the notices, and the writing of the projects has improved, they are of better quality”,

he said.

For the activist, the biggest expectation is what these “guys” will do in relation to the products, which will certainly come from now on, with better quality.

Visual artist Jaime Diákara Dessana said that, in Manaus, LPG is very important, bringing this new perspective to the artist of indigenous literature, visual arts and the artist who works with crafts.

“Our participation in the training courses for the development of projects was very important to have this ease of understanding both the language and the way of expressing its universe, its worldview”,

explained Diákara, highlighting the courses available through Concultura to artists and culture makers.

For experienced actress Rosa Malagueta, the Paulo Gustavo Law is an essential opportunity for artists who need resources after the difficulties accumulated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We spent so much time during the pandemic without money, not only experienced artists, but new artists who are also emerging. I think this promotion is essential”,

highlighted.

Regarding her projects, Rosa says that she works in both Audiovisual and Theater. “I’m an actress, but I’m involved in all areas and I’m going to apply to many areas,” she concluded excitedly.
