Arlindo Cruz’s wife takes a stand after attacks for assuming relationship: ‘No expectation of reversal’

Wife of sambista Arlindo Cruz, businesswoman Babi Cruz took a position on social networks after receiving attacks for taking on a new relationship. She posted a sequence of stories on the subject and shared an old interview in which she gave details about her husband’s health.

First, Babi shared a publication that talked about the subject: “When sick, black women are usually abandoned. I’ve lived it and I know what it’s like to be invalidated as a human being by illness. I suffered very heavy racial violence. Many black friends stopped talking more with me on the street because of my appearance. And also the treatment in the affective relationship was heavy and followed by abandonment. She is taking care of her partner and her life goes on”.

Then, the businesswoman reposted an old interview to the “Metrópoles” portal, in which she says that she no longer has any expectation of a reversal of Arlindo Cruz’s painting. “I have absolutely no [expectativa de reversão]. I have, it’s very hard to say, but I don’t. He finished. Now it’s another story, now it’s another conversation. Now it’s another reality. Now it’s giving him quality of life, taking care of him and that’s it”, said Babi with a broken voice in the interview.

The relationship between André Caetano and Babi was confirmed by the businesswoman last Thursday. The two met during the elections last year, when Babi ran for a seat as a state deputy in Rio.

“I met André Caetano at the time of politics. He was a coordinator and we are starting a relationship. It’s time to think about me. Arlindo is the priority of my life, a priority of my family and, if I have a relationship with someone, whoever it may be, I will have to have Arlindo as a priority” said Babi Cruz in an interview with columnist Fábia Oliveira of the portal “In off”.

The singer Arlindo Cruz has lived in recent years in a delicate state after suffering a stroke (Cerebral Vascular Accident). The case happened in 2017, but the sequels remain. Since then, the sambista has undergone 17 surgeries.

Arlindo is currently undergoing treatment at home, where he has the help of a medical team and his family. Despite not speaking or even walking, the singer manages to sketch reactions when he listens to music and watches his favorite movies. Babi and Arlindo have been together for 25 years.
