Anitta wins award for best Latin music video at VMA 2023 with ‘Funk Rave’

This is the singer’s second consecutive award at the awards.
Singer Anitta won the award for Best Latin Music Video, at the Video Music Awards (VMA), this Tuesday (12), in a ceremony that took place in the United States. This is the second year in a row that the powerhouse has won the award, this year it was with “Funk Rave”, a single that mixes English and Spanish.
In a speech, the Rio native thanked her fans and highlighted that now Brazilian funk will be everywhere in the world.
“I can not believe. Brazil, we are here again. Again. For the second time”, said the singer, in her acceptance speech.
“Thank you so much to my fans. Without you, I would be nothing. I owe you everything I have”, he continued.
“I thank myself. I want to thank myself because I worked hard. And once again, to Brazilian funk. You are listening to Brazilian funk. You’re going to hear funk all over the world now. This is just the beginning. Brazilian funk is here to stay.”

In addition to being awarded, Anitta performed at the awards ceremony singing the singles Funk Rave”, “Casi Casi” and “Used to be”, from the recently released EP “Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story”.
The VMA 2023 honored Shakira with the Michael Jackson Award for her contribution to the world of music with a 10-minute performance featuring her biggest hits throughout her career.
We also had Colombian Karol G singing Brazilian funk with ‘TÁ OK Remix’, which drove the internet crazy when she sang a verse in Portuguese.

Shakira, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were some of the artists awarded on the night which featured performances by Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj and Olivia Rodrigo.
