The open letter posted on Facebook by Acyr Marques, Arlindo’s brother, talks about the musician’s career and asks for respect for his legacy:

“Time passes for all of us, and for an artist, as time goes by, there are only two things left: his work and his memory. There is nothing to talk about the work of Arlindo Cruz. The popular poet, Arlindo Domingos da Cruz Filho, made himself the lyricist of the history of the people”.

“At the end of the day, the artist’s role is to summarize the feelings of the people, and Arlindo fulfills this role very well. There are few who have the privilege of belonging to a pantheon of poets still alive, and he received this gift. But there is no work without memory. Especially in our country, where history is erased, we cannot allow memory to be forgotten”, he continues.
