In an attempt to calm customers after filing for bankruptcy, Americanas said this Saturday (21) that its operations were not affected by any cash restrictions and that there was no change in customer demand, product supply and payment flow. .

The company also claims that it is working on a strategic plan to optimize resources to ensure the company’s sustainability in the short term, which includes restructuring the operation.

“It is part of our day to day to check and adjust any imbalances at one point or another. Now we have entered into a judicial recovery process and this will force us to look at these points with more focus. We will certainly adjust what is not essential to us,” he told Sheet Marcio Chaer, director of operations and consumer relations at Americanas.

“Our major concern is to maintain our customer service role, to maintain operational capacity. Eventually activities that are not completely focused on this will be part of our review.”

He stated that the company continues to verify the same level of demand, both from customers and from partners (suppliers and delivery companies, for example). There has also been no increase in canceled purchases, he says.

“The sale remains the same. There were no changes. The supply remains normal, the gondolas continue with the same assortment they already had. The site is also operating normally, with the same price level.”

The executive claims that the company has been talking to companies responsible for supplying products, supplying stores and delivering purchases, in addition to strengthening communication channels with customers and providing clarifications to consumer protection bodies.

“All the signs are already very clear for our partners, that’s why we have kept everything normal. Nothing was affected”, he said.

“This week, we maintained the already scheduled flows, both transfers to our marketplace sales partners, and payment for the operation and digital delivery”, said Chaer, who highlights that there is no delay in deliveries beyond what normally occurs .

The company also says that cashback on Ame’s digital accounts is also still available.

The executive stated that he could not speak about the company’s cash problems and issues related to judicial recovery, but said that nothing has changed from the customers’ point of view.

Asked whether the company will be able to maintain normal operations in the coming weeks, he said that the company’s focus is to resolve doubts from commercial partners to ensure that the delivery and supply flow continues normally.

“There is no forecast for change now. It doesn’t make sense, since sales are still normal and the stock as well. We have to guarantee that this gear continues to function properly.”

Due to the accounting scandal in which R$ 20 billion were no longer recorded as debts on the balance sheet, Americanas filed for judicial recovery last Thursday (19).

The retailer has a debt of approximately BRL 43 billion with 16,300 creditors, making it the fourth largest request for judicial recovery in the history of Brazil.
