Southern Brazil knows the potential of the Amazon, one of the best tourist attractions in the world, according to the New York Times

Manaus (AM) – From North to south. The Government of Amazonas, through the State Tourism Company (Amazonastur) takes to the south of the country, the beauties and tourist potential of the state in the 18th edition of the Festival das Cataratas, starting from Thursday (1st), in Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná. The event that drives the sector, connects companies, researchers in the tourism sector and public bodies.

Amazonastur has its own stand, dedicated to the tourist attractions of the Amazon, with emphasis on nature and sustainable tourism, two of the state’s great potentialities. Festival visitors also receive regionally-themed gifts such as chestnut and cupuaçu candies and tucumã seed necklaces, to demonstrate Amazonian culture and tourism.

For the president of Amazonastur, Gustavo Sampaio, the event positions Amazonas among the main tourist destinations in Brazil, with a focus on the southern public and the consolidation of business and opportunities for the segment in the state.

“In addition to being a strategic fair to close deals and partnerships that bring financial return to the Amazonian tourist market, the south is a major source of tourists to Amazonas. We need to ensure that this tourist is aware of everything our state has to offer and that we are one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil”,

said Sampaio.

Recently, the capital of Amazonas was highlighted by The New York Times, in the list of the best tourist destinations in the world for 2023, highlighting its wide gastronomic variety. According to the president of Amazonastur, more than that, the state brings together several tourist segments such as nature tourism, the forest, caves, waterfalls and a rich culture.

In terms of folklore events, the Festival das Cirandas and the traditional Parintins Folk Festival stand out, which has established itself as the largest manifestation of popular culture in northern Brazil, a product also promoted internationally by Embratur.

In the capital is the Teatro Amazonas, considered cultural and architectural heritage, listed in 1966, which hosts the Amazonas Opera Festival, the longest running in the country, with 25 years.

The Festival takes place in a space with more than 7 thousand square meters and with the presence of more than 1.3 thousand exhibitors from different areas of the tourist market, such as destinations, airlines, destinations, parks and agencies.
