Brazil has few investments that will improve the quality of life of the population as a whole
Manaus (AM) – The Index of Return on Wellbeing to Society (IRBES), which assesses whether taxes collected are used effectively to improve people’s quality of life, indicates that Brazil is in last position among the 30 countries analyzed.
The survey also showed that Amazonas is among the states with the lowest rate of return to the well-being of the population. In addition to it, there are: Bahia, Maranhão, Alagoas and Rondônia.
IRBES says that Ireland, for the fifth consecutive year, has the best rate of return from taxes to society’s well-being. Next, the ranking points to Switzerland, Australia, the United States and South Korea.
“When we think about the application of these resources in investments that will improve the quality of life of the population as a whole, we really see very little in this regard. We have cuts in education, cuts in health, cuts… cuts in many of what is main and essential to improve the quality of life of our population”,
highlights the president of the Brazilian Institute of Planning and Taxation, João Eloi.
In Brazil, the study indicates that the five federative units that stand out are: Federal District, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Paraná.
