AM project wins national award for insertion of refugees into the job market

Manaus (AM) – The project “Talents Without Borders: the development of Venezuelan professionals and their insertion in the Brazilian job market”, implemented by the Civil Society Organization (OSC) Hermanitos, in Manaus (AM), gained national prominence with third place in the Ser Award Human Brazil. The Solemnity took place last Friday (27), in Guarulhos, São Paulo.

The award is promoted by the Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH-Brasil) for institutions and companies that stand out for their commitment to human development and people management. Among the participants, the initiative was the only one from Amazonas to win the competition.

Hermanitos’ “Talents Without Borders” project, which came in third place in the “Development” category, emphasizes social entrepreneurship and labor insertion in the training and introduction of Venezuelan migrant professionals and refugees into the job market.

The document was prepared by the coordinator of the “Mujeres Fuertes” Project, Ana Vasconcelos; Hermanitos project director, Anderson Mattos; and the institution’s president director, Tulio Duarte.

“Founded in 2019, in Manaus, Hermanitos has played a crucial role in the lives of Venezuelan refugees and migrants. With the mission of helping these individuals integrate into Brazilian society, the project has already sent hundreds of professionals to jobs, bringing dignity to professionals and talent to hiring companies. The issue of refugees is a global challenge and it is essential to understand that these individuals bring with them the richness of their cultures, experiences and capabilities, enriching the nations that host them”,

In August, Hermanitos also won second place in the “Development” category of the Regional Human Being Award, during the 20th Amazon Human Resources Congress (CONAMARH), in Manaus (AM).

“Hermanitos has strived to promote sustainable economic growth and decent work, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 8 (SDG 8), established by the UN. Amidst the growing acceptance and inclusion of refugee professionals in Manaus, Hermanitos works not only to insert these professionals into the job market, but also to promote human development and strengthen a fairer and more inclusive society”,

Also according to Tulio Duarte, the results of Hermanitos’ actions are the result of the collaboration of countless people and entities. “This award was only possible thanks to our valued partners such as the UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR), Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF), Public Ministry of Labor of Amazonas and Roraima (MPT), ABRH, Operação Acolhida and all the companies that opened their doors to these refugee talents. And also our employees and volunteers who, daily, put their effort and heart into this project.”
