Alckmin listed a series of factors that represent competitive advantages for the country, which, according to him, is already the fifth in attracting direct investment

The acting President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, said this Tuesday (15) that the international context makes Brazil “the great alternative” for a market that increasingly seeks, in addition to quality and good price, products that are environmentally friendly. suitable.

During his participation in the conference Powershoring and the Green Neoindustrialization of Brazil – Perspectives, Potential, Public and Private Policies, promoted by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), in Brasília, Alckmin listed a series of factors that represent competitive advantages for the country that, according to him, it is already the fifth in attracting direct investment.

The environmental question – and the realization, mainly by rich countries, of its harmful effects on the climate – will represent, for Brazil and other countries with forests in their geographic space, hitherto unprecedented advantages, said Alckmin.

“The question has always been ‘where can I make it well and cheaply?’ Now it’s ‘where can I manufacture well, cheaply and offset carbon emissions?’ And then Brazil is the great alternative. We will have a great opportunity. We are already the fifth country in the world in attracting direct investment, and this can grow enormously. Neo-industrialization is exactly that, innovation and green”,

said the acting president.

CBA

According to Alckmin, the Amazon Biotechnology Center (CBA), which has been involved in research for 21 years and creates new products with raw materials from the Amazon, will play an important role in this context. Among the products that are the focus of this center are food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It also works to train residents of traditional communities.

“We have a new model and a management contract with the CBA to take another step towards turning Amazonian biodiversity into employment and income. To become a patent, to become a business and to become a product”,

added.

Alckmin recalled that, currently, the world depends mainly on three tropical forests, located in Brazil, Congo and Indonesia. “Since the Amazon rainforest is by far the largest and most important.”

He added that the government has acted to continue the permanent task of working on land titling and combating deforestation. Another task cited by the acting president is decarbonization.

“And then we already have a successful project, which is biodiesel. President Lula, in his first term, launched the B3, to exchange 3% of diesel for vegetable oil, such as soy, castor bean, palm oil, sunflower or animal fat. It was a success. It went on to B7, B10, B13 and would reach B15, but last year it was reduced to B10, reducing the presence of bio in diesel. This year it went back to B12. Next year it will go to B13 and then B14 to then reach B15 and then to B20”,

Alckmin reiterated that Brazil no longer imports diesel oil, in order to maintain the strategy of increasingly replacing it with vegetable oil produced in the country itself, as is the case of soy oil.

“There is also ethanol, which is a reality. The flex car is a Brazilian source of pride. Our gasoline is the only one that has 27% ethanol, and there is a study to reach 30%. That’s why we emit less [gases poluentes]. If we take it from well to wheel, pure ethanol pollutes less until [carro] electric, because you need to take into account how this battery is made and what energy is used to manufacture it”,

argued by reaffirming that biodiesel and ethanol represent “great possibilities” for the future of the country.

“The whole world is going to change airplane kerosene for sustainable fuels, and Brazil and the United States are the two big ones in this area. If we race in research and innovation, we’ll get ahead,” she said.
