Costa Filho met on Tuesday night (14) with representatives from the companies Latam, Azul, Gol and VoePass, the Brazilian Association of Airlines and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) to discuss the cost of tickets. According to the most recent data from Anac, referring to August, the average price of fares is R$649.17. “We know that the increase in fares is a global issue. In Europe and the United States, we saw an increase in airfares. What we cannot accept and allow are abusive increases that have harmed the Brazilian population,” he declared. According to the minister, companies justify the prices because of the difficulties faced by the sector in the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. “Airlines have had very difficult times and are actually having cash problems even to put aircraft traveling for Brazil”, he stated. The high legal costs are also a complaint from companies, which pay around R$1 billion in legal proceedings, according to the minister.
