Airlines move forward in dialogue on fuel prices – 01/30/2023 – Panel SA

One of the sectors most interested in a review of Petrobras’ pricing policy, aviation has been meeting frequently with the new government to talk about the topic that companies now consider their main difficulty: the price of the so-called QAV, aircraft kerosene .

In the first weeks of management, Abear (sector association) and airline executives met with ministers Fernando Haddad (Finance), Márcio França (Ports and Airports), Daniela Carneiro (Tourism) and the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo. The sector was also with the Executive Secretary of the Treasury, Gabriel Galípolo, and the Revenue Secretary, Robinson Barreirinhas.

The objective is still to present the demand of the companies to the new president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, and the minister Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy). Prates has already announced that he intends to review the state-owned company’s pricing policy, on the grounds that most of the fuel consumed in the country is produced in Brazilian refineries.

For Eduardo Sanovicz, president of Abear, the new government has shown openness to dialogue. “I am quite satisfied with the way in which we are being received and with the understanding that has been demonstrated by the interlocutors about the seriousness of the QAV problem, which is the biggest distortion faced today by the sector. Here in Brazil, kerosene is going from 40% of the cost of the ticket, while the average in the US is 22% and in Europe, 24%”, he says.
