The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Carlos Fávaro, stated that Petrobras should resume construction of three fertilizer factories in the country. The statements were made in an interview with the newspaper The globe, published on Tuesday (17). When questioned about the recent risk of a lack of inputs for Brazilian agribusiness after the war in Ukraine, Fávaro stated that he intends to continue with the national fertilizer plan and resume construction of the three nitrogenous production units, which were paralyzed.

“There are three started. The proposal is to structure, see what you need to finish and they are ready to supply nitrogen again. We want to invest in technology, in the search for phosphates, of which there is a little in Brazil, and also potassium chloride. We have in Autazes (AM), for example, a deposit outside an indigenous reserve as large as the Canadian deposits of potassium chloride production”, he said.

According to him, the challenge now is to license these areas, which are within the region of influence of the indigenous territory. “This is a challenge that needs to be faced with great responsibility, but so that we can also think about national sovereignty”, declared the minister. According to him, the subject has not yet been discussed with Minister Marina Silva, of the Environment.
