Agricultural fair in Goiás announces R$ 11.1 billion in business – 03/31/2023 – Market

The organization of the 20th edition of Tecnoshow Comigo, which ends this Friday (31) in Rio Verde (GO), announced revenues of R$ 11.1 billion in five days of negotiations for agricultural machinery, implements and inputs for agribusiness .

The value is equivalent to the R$ 11.19 billion, corrected for inflation, traded last year (nominal value of R$ 10.6 billion) and confirms that agribusiness continues to have a strong appetite for purchases this year, which had already been recorded at agricultural fairs held in 2023. This despite strong criticism of the Lula government that has been made by the sector, such as interest rates and recent land invasions.

Show Safra, in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), traded BRL 9.2 billion between March 19 and 22, compared to BRL 8.5 billion (BRL 8.98 billion, corrected by the IPCA) in the year past. Expodireto Cotrijal, in Não-Me-Toque (RS), moved R$ 7.043 billion in early March, a 42% increase in nominal values ​​compared to R$ 4.961 billion in 2022 (R$ 5.238 billion, adjusted for inflation ).

The number of visitors also broke a record. In 2022, there were 128,000 people and the expectation for now was that 130,000 people would go to the CTC (Comigo Technological Center), but the total reached 138,000.

Comigo, the cooperative that organizes Tecnoshow, was already betting on strong revenues despite the recent drop in prices for some commodities, due to positive agro data for 2023.

Among them, the forecast for the country to harvest 13.8% more grains this year than in the previous cycle, according to data from Conab (National Supply Company).

“The result really surprised us, for the moment we are living. We were afraid of not reaching the [faturamento do] last year […] We consider this to be a really fantastic thing, not only for Rio Verde, but for the state of Goiás and for Brazil”, said Antonio Chavaglia, chairman of the board of directors of Comigo (Cooperativa Agroindustrial dos Produtores Rurais do Sudoeste Goiás), one of the largest of the country and organizer of the fair.

He also stated that the sector was concerned with the country’s economic moment, marked by falling commodity prices. “But, in the case of inputs, [os preços] also downloaded. And the trading base is a little better.”

The agro fair was marked by brand launches, from machines to biological inputs, such as an FMC biofungicide that combines two strains and can be used in soybean, cotton and bean crops, to control white mold (disease).

Baldan, an industry from the interior of São Paulo, exhibited for the first time in the region two models of sprayers. One of them, the Avola, promises low fuel consumption and has pneumatic suspension.

Fernando Prudente, executive director of sales at Bayer Soja e Algodão, said that negotiations during the fair indicated that business was within expectations, despite the recent drop in commodity prices.

“It is one of our priority fairs, it is one of the fairs with the highest return, because here we have a very strong business counter part. Comigo is an excellent partner, not only commercially, but here at the fair as well”, he said. The manufacturer took to the fair an unprecedented fungicide for soy, which fights diseases such as Asian rust.

Chavaglia said that, for next year, he wants to expand the total number of exhibitors, which was already a record in 2023 (650), but with new manufacturers and that present new technologies.

The fair generated, according to the organization, 12,800 direct and indirect jobs and resulted in an impact on the local economy of R$ 92 million. The hotel network in Rio Verde was 100% occupied and hotels in cities such as Santa Helena de Goiás and Jataí also recorded high occupancy.

There were also 250 landings and takeoffs recorded in the five days of the event. “There is an increase of four and a half times in the flow of executive aircraft here in relation to other periods outside the fair”, said Denimárcio Borges, secretary of Economic Development of Rio Verde.
