‘Afterwards, I even gave a rose’

After two years without embarking on his traditional cruise, “Emotions on the high seas”, Roberto Carlos got back on board. During a press conference earlier this Friday night, the singer talked about love, future plans and more. In the chat, he revealed that he is currently engaged:

— I’m dating, but I won’t say who, no. Not yet. Everything has its time (laughs).

Roberto didn’t shy away from also talking about the episode that went viral at the end of last year, when he said a curse to a fan during a show. By telling her secrets to take care of her voice.

— I’m very careful with my voice: not talking loudly and not arguing out loud. But sometimes I lose my temper a little bit, like it was a while ago. It’s good to talk about it. One of the songs I focus on the most is “How Great I Love You” and the guy couldn’t stop screaming. I used to tell him: “Then I…”. And he didn’t stop. There was a moment when I said, “Shut up, damn it.” He wouldn’t let me concentrate and sing with feeling this song from my repertoire, which says what I feel, including for you. After I said that, I even gave him the rose to take (laughs) — he explained, drawing applause and laughter from the audience.

The King also commented on his body care routine and the aesthetic procedures he has already done.

— I do a little physical exercise, weight training, stationary bike to strengthen. Hair I didn’t miss, really, I had six hair transplants. It starts to look a little like this here, I’ll go there and put it on. Now I don’t think I need to do it anymore, no. Everything is fine. I haven’t had plastic surgery for about 10 years, but I had two pulls on my neck. I try to sleep well, I am no longer a vegetarian, as I was for 30 years, I eat everything these days, but with a lot of balance, in a healthy way — explains Roberto.

Longing

This is the first edition of Cruzeiro after the COVID-19 pandemic, and also after the singer lost special people in his life, such as his son Dudu Braga and best friend Erasmo Carlos. On the losses, he reflected:

“I have to deal with loneliness from time to time. For example, in this case of Erasmo, also of my son…. This time it was a very short space of time and it really hurt me a lot, a lot. It was one blow after another. But we gather strength to face these situations, which are sometimes unavoidable. We fight for it not to happen, we do everything we can, but there are things we have to face – reflects the King.

After losing his partner of so many years of life and music, Roberto confessed:

— I don’t see myself composing with another composer. Erasmo was my partner since he was 18 or 19 years old. It wasn’t just a partnership for a job to be done. It’s a brother thing. He is the brother I chose, and a composer of the highest quality. It helped me a lot in the songs we made together. There was something far above the professional issue. I can think about making a song, a partnership can happen. But with that strength, I find it difficult – he points out.

Future

Despite having resumed the project on the ship this year, Roberto says he does not know if there will be more editions in the coming years. However, he has a number of career plans.

— I have several songs to record, I’m going to go into the studio right now, I want to make a new album in Spanish, because it’s been a while since I’ve done anything in this language. I want to do a lot of things and I’m writing all the time. I already have four songs recorded, ready. I’m deciding how I launch, all together or one at a time. But I have it all up my sleeve,” says Roberto.
