Upon entering the fourth month of operation in the Caracol and Tainhas state park concessions, the Novo Caracol and Tainhas Consortium wants to guarantee its place in the schedule of tourists in the Serra Gaúcha this Easter period. During the month of April, children from 6 to 11 years old pay only R$ 1.00 to enter Parque do Caracol, and children under 6 years old do not pay. For adults, admission is BRL 75.00 and, according to the park manager, Rafael Silveira, there is no prediction of readjustment in the value for visitation in 2023 in the Canela park.
“We consider that the price is fair for what we will offer in this first year, and suitable for the market. We are starting work on improving the park, and visitors will already notice this change”, explains Silveira.
It is because the consortium started investments of R$ 3 million planned for this year in Parque do Caracol. Among the actions already implemented are the revitalization of the waterfall and mill viewpoints, in addition to the renovation of the trails inside the park. The information is contained in the 2023 Yearbook of Investments of Jornal do Comércio.
“There were three months of intense investment in the park, especially in the area of infrastructure linked to sanitation, which was not adequate in the facilities of Parque do Caracol. improvements in cleaning and painting the playgrounds and other structures”, points out the manager.
The consortium is studying the reactivation of the so-called “wobbly ladder”, which has not been working for nine years and needs structural repairs to return to being among the attractions for visitors. Later this year, a foreign company will be contracted to draw up the master plan for Parque do Caracol, with an expected contribution of R$ 600,000 in the study phase, which will have the collaboration of a company from Rio Grande do Sul, according to Silveira, to ensure “a local look, gaúcho” to the actions to be implemented from this study.
“The plan will not only define management actions for the next five years, but will also define which attractions will have the best potential to be explored from these next five years”, explains Rafael Silveira.
There is no defined budget for the implementation of possible new attractions in the park, but investments of up to BRL 7 million are estimated for these new operations by 2028. The first of the new attractions, including, should start later this year, during the low season. According to Rafael Silveira, the new attractions should be related to activities such as tree climbing, zip lines and other activities that enhance the natural resources of the Canela park.
While the concession in Canela advances in qualification to receive tourists, in Parque Estadual do Tainhas, which is located between the municipalities of Jaquirana, São Francisco de Paula and Cambará do Sul, the consortium’s priority is the guarantee of basic infrastructure for researchers who attend the park.
R$ 2 million in investments are foreseen for the implementation of an internet system and for the revitalization of the headquarters of the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) inside the park.
“In this first year, we will not charge tickets for the entrance to Parque do Tainhas”, completes the manager.
At the beginning of May, the Starlink system should be in operation, which comprises a set of antennas to provide an internet signal in places that are difficult to access. The technology has been used, for example, in Ukraine under Russian attack. Currently, even the telephone signal is quite precarious in the Tainhas area.
Shortly after the implementation of the internet, work is scheduled to begin to revitalize the State building, which has 12 rooms for Sema researchers and professionals.
From 2024, explains Silveira, it will be time to develop the master plan for Parque Tainhas.
The Novo Caracol Tainhas Consortium disbursed R$ 150 million in 2022 to win the auction promoted by the State for the concessions of the two parks for 30 years. The contract provides for investments of R$ 47.6 million between the two parks during the entire concession period.
Led by Iter Parques, the group is the same one that controls the operations of Parque Bondinho do Pão de Açúcar, in Rio de Janeiro.
