After falls, consumer confidence reaches neutral level – 04/26/2023 – Panel SA

The National Confidence Index (INC) monitored by the Commercial Association of São Paulo (ACSP) reached its level of neutrality (100 points) in April, after successive declines.
In the month, the index fell by 3% compared to March. It was the third monthly drop in the survey, driven mainly by the North, Northeast and Southeast regions.
In the evaluation of the ACSP economists, in these regions, there was a worsening in the perception of families in relation to their own financial situation and permanence in employment.
Still according to the survey, the perception of families in these regions has been influencing more strongly the declines in the INC.
On average, the declines in the index have been intensifying due to the opposite movement registered in the Midwest and South, where the good performance of agribusiness injects energy into consumers. In these areas, there is more consumer optimism about the economy.
The ACSP survey is carried out jointly with PiniOn and surveyed 1,700 people in all regions of the country.
