The Agricultural and Forestry Defense Agency of Amazonas (Adaf) reported yesterday (06), the extension of the deadline for veterinarians in the state to carry out the registration update in the vaccination program against brucellosis. Initially scheduled to close on January 31, this time it will continue until Friday (10), when filling out the registration.

Adaf’s Animal Defense manager, Graziele Domingues, explains that cadastral updating is free and must be carried out on the federal government portal (gov.br). “Professionals must have proof of residence, a negative certificate from the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine and a standard photo for the document. The step-by-step instructions are available on the Adaf website (adaf.am.gov.br)”, she points out.

If the professional has assistants or intends to register new ones, it is mandatory to attach the registration forms of all assistants, duly completed, stamped and signed by the registered person, in addition to proof of participation in a course of vaccination against brucellosis, carried out by partner institutions or by the professional himself. registered veterinarian.

Illness

Brucellosis is a disease caused by bacteria that can affect several species, in addition to being transmitted to humans. Contamination can either occur through direct contact with infected animals and their secretions, or through ingestion of raw milk and cheese from unpasteurized milk.

Only properly trained veterinarians and assistants, with their registration up to date, can apply the vaccine, which is produced with live attenuated bacteria.

At this stage of the immunization campaign, rural producers across the state must vaccinate calves, cattle and buffaloes from 3 to 8 months of age against brucellosis by May 31st. After applying the vaccine, Adaf must be notified.
