‘A dream of 15 years’

She was already queen of the drums, muse, reporter in sector 1, godmother of the box… But Renata Frisson, the Melon Woman, lacked a place of achievement in Rio’s carnival. And he came in 2023. The former funk artist and Mulher Fruta will be one of the few famous muses to parade through Mangueira, her heart school.

Melon woman celebrates return to carnival after 5 years and will debut in Mangueira as a muse

“A dream of 15 years ago, when I went to the Sambódromo and saw the school parading for the first time, live. I feel very privileged and honoured”, she spills, in Verde e Rosa, in a rehearsal in the alleys of the community, in North Zone of Rio: “My second home”.

The traditional Mangueira will tremble with the Melon costume, she guarantees. She says it will be the most daring thing she’s ever worn: “And the smallest in the school too. I won’t be topless or anything like that, but it’s going to shock.”

Small yes, no shine ever! According to Melon, the material used was all imported. “It’s full of crystals and silver plated. That’s all I can say,” he says, giving a spoiler. She is still studying to parade with an exclusive jewel. In one of the technical tests, Melon wore a BRL 127,000 earring and wanted to hire a security guard to escort her: “Depending on the scheme I get, without putting myself in danger, I’m going to wear a frilly piece of jewelry”.

A millionaire because of her account on an adult platform, she guarantees, Melon didn’t mind spending what she had to be a muse on Avenida. What she calls investment started last year, just before the carnival that took place in April. “I had a rhinoplasty, changed the silicone, went back to the Sambódromo so everyone would know that I was still in Rio’s carnival and the flirting started with school”, she justifies.

During the eight-month period, Melon changed his diet, started training with discipline and diversified the content he distributes on the adult platform to earn more. All this with an eye on the parade that will be held in the early hours of this Monday, 20.

“I spent about R$1 million on my carnival. I didn’t spend it, I invested it. Because it’s my dream come true and I set out to do my best. I even had a samba class with an incredible dancer from the school, Clau Roberta, and I felt like I belonged to the community. I am receiving a lot of affection and welcome. All of this, what unites us, is the love for the art of carnival”.
