The “de-extinction” of animals, something that would sound like science fiction a few decades ago, is getting closer to reality due to advances in recent years in DNA editing techniques and manipulation of embryos in the laboratory.
The American company Colossal Biosciences announced, in 2021, the desire to reintroduce in the tundra steppes of Siberia and Alaska the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) that became extinct 10 thousand years ago, in the last Ice Age. And he managed a considerable effort for this: about US$ 15 million (or approximately R$ 78 million).
To analyze whether this is really possible, presenter Isabella Faria talks live with reporter Ana Botallo on Como é que é? this Thursday (23).
Now, the same company has announced that it wants to bring back the dodo (Raphus cucullatus), a giant flightless bird that originated in Mauritius in the Indian Ocean and was last seen in 1662.
Streamed live from the newsroom of Sheetin downtown São Paulo, the program Como é que é?, on TV Folha, airs from Monday to Friday, on the newspaper’s channels on Youtube, Facebook and Twitch.
Since its debut three weeks ago, reporters, editors and experts have been interviewed to talk about internet misogyny, the bivalent Covid vaccine, Oscar winners and losers, ChatGPT and the first year of the Ukrainian War.
After the broadcast, the conversations are available in full on the TV Folha channel on Youtube and also in an audio version on the main podcast aggregators.
In addition to the new daily program, TV Folha publishes interviews, reports and minidocs on Youtube on different news topics.
