MCTI launches bids for R$20.85 billion at COP28 – 11/30/2023 – Environment

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, announced this Thursday (30), in Dubai, a set of notices worth R$20.85 billion. Part of the Mais Inovação Brasil program, the amount will finance projects in the areas of energy transition, bioeconomy, infrastructure and mobility.
“There are five notices, all of them focused on the debate on energy transition, urban mobility and bioeconomy. There are R$10 billion with credit from Finep [Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos] and R$850 million in economic subsidies”, said the minister at the Address Dubai Marina hotel, the same one where President Lula (PT) will be staying.
“We cannot face global warming and climate change without science and technology,” he said. The notices are published jointly with the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) and the CNI (National Confederation of Industry).
The notices will be officially launched this Friday, at 1 pm, at the CNI stand, within the so-called Blue Zone, one of the parts of COP28, the UN climate conference taking place at the Expo City event center, in Dubai.
At 4:30 pm, the minister will participate in the panel “The science of the national inventory and mitigation policies”, in the Brazilian pavilion at COP28.
At least 12 ministers from the Lula government are expected to participate in the summit: Marina Silva (Environment), Mauro Vieira (Foreign Affairs), Fernando Haddad (Finance), Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy), Rui Costa (Civil House), Sonia Guajajara ( Indigenous Peoples), Luciana Santos (Science, Technology and Innovation), Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture and Livestock), Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development and Family Farming), Jader Filho (Cities), Celso Sabino (Tourism) and Cida Gonçalves (Women).
