The French Embassy in Brazil and the French Alliance will promote next Wednesday (8), on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a marathon edition of entries to include more profiles of women scientists on Wikipedia.
Women in science and technology who are authors of considerable achievements and still do not have an article on the site, such as scientists Andreia Coutinho and Zelia Ludwig and mathematician Eliza Maria, the first black woman to have a doctorate in the area in the country, will be contemplated.
The action, entitled “Editatona (Wikitathon)”, will feature the participation of computer scientist Nina da Hora, cultural producer Marcele Oliveira and artist Zaika dos Santos, in addition to Wiki Movement Brazil editors.
All of them will be present at the auditorium of the Aliança Francesa Botafogo, in Rio de Janeiro, where the event “Desbravadoras” will take place. On the occasion, an art exhibition and the new season of the Mentes Pesquisadoras podcast will be launched.
Those interested in collaborating with the creation of entries will also be able to participate virtually, through a room that will be opened on the Zoom platform. According to the organization, it is not necessary to have previous experience, “just a willingness to learn”.
