Even with a large superiority in the initial stage of the match and with many wasted goals, Grêmio ended up being defeated this Sunday (19) by Ypiranga by 2 to 1, in the first game of the semifinal of the Campeonato Gaúcho, at the Colosso da Lagoa stadium, in Erechim. Highlight in the match, the Uruguayan striker even missed a penalty saved by goalkeeper Caíque. During the match, Grêmio players paid tribute to the former player Lucas Leivas, who on Friday announced his retirement – all had the player’s name on their shirt.

In the first half of the match, Grêmio largely dominated, but missed several goal chances. In the 11th minute, Suárez opened the scoring to the delight of the Gremista crowd at Colosso da Lagoa. At 20 minutes, defender Kannemann, with a bad performance, committed a penalty on Matheuzinho. Player Erick Farias took the penalty, with no chance of defense for goalkeeper Adriel, and tied the match. But, in the 47th minute, it was confirmed through VAR handball by defender Kannemann – he was sent off. Referee Rafael Klein awarded the penalty. Erick Farias took the penalty to declare victory for the Erechim team, to an intense celebration by the crowd.
