TRE-AP publishes resolution that makes Wanna Brito Ambassador of Electoral Justice – Diário do Amapá
The Regional Electoral Court of Amapá published the resolution, unanimously approved, which provides for the concession to the athlete Wanna Helena Brito Oliveira, who won the Silver Medal in Shot Put, Class F-32, at the Paris Paralympics, and the title of Ambassador for Accessibility and Inclusion of the state’s Electoral Justice.
The Court considered the importance of promoting social inclusion and ensuring the effective participation of people with disabilities in electoral processes, in line with the principles of citizenship and equal rights, and the inspiring trajectory of the paralympic athlete Wanna Helena Brito Oliveira who, for her dedication and overcoming in sport, became a reference of perseverance and inclusion for Amapá society.
As Ambassador for Accessibility and Inclusion, Wanna Brito will have the following duties: representing the Amapá Electoral Court in events, campaigns and activities related to accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities; promote and publicize TRE/AP initiatives aimed at inclusion and accessibility in elections, aiming to raise awareness and raise awareness in society about the importance of the participation of people with disabilities, and act as a spokesperson for inclusion and accessibility actions, inspiring other people to exercise their citizenship rights in a full and inclusive manner.
During the session that approved the granting of the title, the judge Carmo Antonio, president of the Regional Electoral Court, reported that the proposal was forwarded to the presidency by the Strategic Planning and Management Advisory (Asplan) of the Court and aims, through the athlete’s image and trajectory, to reinforce the visibility of TRE/AP’s accessibility initiatives and inspire other people with disabilities to actively participate in elections and public life.
As rapporteur of the proposal, Carmo Antônio highlighted that TRE-AP has, throughout the year, supported athlete Wanna Brito in her career and, even“we had the pleasure of, together with our Servers Association, donating essential equipment, not only for physical preparation, but also for the well-being of the athlete”. He also recalled the world title that Wanna Brito won in Japan before the medal in Paris.
