Tite is fired from Flamengo – 09/30/2024 – Sport

Tite is no longer Flamengo’s coach. The dismissal was announced by the club on Monday morning (30). His coaching staff was also dismissed.

The red-black team’s management thanked the coach and his team and wished them “luck”. The gaucho’s spell at the Rio club lasted less than a year.

Filipe Luís takes over the team on an interim basis. He is a former player, 39 years old and currently coaches Flamengo’s under-20 team.

The dismissal comes days after Flamengo’s elimination in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores and intense pressure from the fans, who had been questioning the coach’s results and promoting booing and insults.

Flamengo was Tite’s first club after his time with the Brazilian national team, with Croatia eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup, on penalties.

Before the coach signed with the Rio team, Tite had been approached by Corinthians, the club where he was Brazilian, South American and world champion. The coach would complete one year at Flamengo on October 10th.
