Tarcísio goes to church with Nunes and condemns son of darkness – 09/29/2024 – Power
Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) preached this Sunday (29), alongside Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), prudence and drew attention to “false Christs”, “sons of darkness” and “false prophets”, when speaking to hundreds of faithful at the Worldwide Church of the Power of God, in the central region of the capital of São Paulo.
On stage, with the candidate for re-election and the leader of the church, apostle Valdemiro Santiago, Tarcísio said that “we are reaching a decisive moment, to think about the future”, and read again a biblical passage, according to him, about prudence. The first round of elections takes place next Sunday (6).
“How many people lie, talk nonsense? And we have to remember: he who is unfaithful in little will be unfaithful in much”, defended the governor, who has reinforced Nunes’ campaign and sought to reverse votes from Bolsonarists in Pablo Marçal (PRTB). “We have to be prudent, because the children of darkness are more cunning than the children of light. And how come the son of darkness to deceive people”, he stated.
“There are people who appear promising the most amazing things in the world and showing themselves to be what they are not. We have to be careful, because false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform such great signs and wonders that, if possible, they would deceive even the chosen”, he continued, with a new biblical quote.
After the sermon, questioned by journalists, Tarcísio did not say whether the speech was a reference to Marçal, with whom Nunes is competing for evangelical votes. The president stated that every campaign has false prophets, unfortunately.
He also denied being bothered by the nickname “goiabinha”, given to him by Marçal, but warned of the candidate’s lack of respect. “If a person doesn’t respect anyone, if they can’t respect the state’s representative, who will they have to have a relationship with, how can they imagine harmony in the future?”
In a press conference, Tarcísio stated that he was committed to bringing the truth to the population and praised the debate on Saturday (28) promoted by Record. “The level has improved a lot, but there are still a lot of lies.”
The service began with music and preaching after almost an hour of delay, as was foreseen in the candidate’s agenda. Valdemiro apologized. He said he was receiving the authorities, as determined in the Bible.
On stage, at one point, Nunes seemed so overwhelmed by the sound that he didn’t see a woman trying to greet him. He then laughed and asked for forgiveness. The candidate sat next to Tarcísio.
The pastor said that “we, priests, have to pray for the authorities” and stated that he had summoned the governor, who then answered the call because he was a “man of God, who likes people. Amen!”. Going forward, taking care of people is one of Nunes’ slogans in the electoral campaign.
Valdemiro also thanked the candidate for the zero bus fare on Sundays. “I love this mayor very much”, later joking about the fact that the candidate is from Palmeiras and the name of the church is global. The São Paulo club’s football title is a source of jokes among rivals. The apostle is from São Paulo.
