Swimmer from Amazonas wins four golds in the North-Northeast Club Championship

Amazonian swimmer Pietra Menezes, aged 14, won four gold medals in the North-Northeast Club Championship. The event took place on the 26th, 27th and 28th of September, at the Vila Olímpica swimming pool, in Manaus, and was attended by more than 350 athletes from 42 clubs.

Pietra Menezes, from Manaus, is from Fluminense and swam as a guest athlete. In the championship, Pietra won four gold medals in the four events he competed in.

Being invited, the athlete was unable to receive the trophy for best athlete in the competition, as according to the regulations, points do not count for the team. Pietra Menezes received the medals according to her classification.

“I’m in a fast pace of competitions. This month there was the International Borders and North-Northeast Meeting. Now, on the 1st and 2nd of October there are JEBs, which I will try for a place in the Brazilian team for the U15 World Cup. Then, I’m going to Rio de Janeiro to meet with the team so we can head to Mococa, in São Paulo, where the Brazilian Championship will be held. I am looking to overcome myself, with faith and confidence”, said Pietra, who is now heading to Recife (PE), to participate in the Brazilian School Games (JEBs) in search of qualifying for the U15 World Cup.

Records

Pietra is a sprint athlete who has accumulated several records in the Amazonian championships. She has already participated in several competitions for Brazil, winning the title of two-time Brazilian champion in the 50 meter freestyle.

The athlete also reached first place in the Brazilian ranking twice in the Petiz 1 (11 years old) and Petiz 2 (12 years old) category in the 50 meter freestyle. In addition to these achievements, she also has titles in competitions such as JEAs and JEBs.
