Gerological maintenance is carried out on attractions in the park ICMBio Noronha/Disclosure Preventive work began last year, when a geological study carried out by specialists mapped the points that receive visitation. The study indicated the need for regular cleaning of rocks and fragments that could increase the risk of accidents on the trails. The analysis, carried out in May 2022, on the staircase and on the trail of Praia do Sancho and Baía dos Porcos indicated that there was a “high risk” of landslides. One of those responsible for the study was geologist Fábio Reis, who is also a civil engineer and worked on the analysis of the Furnas area, in Capitólio (MG), where the collapse of rocks in a canyon left ten dead. Specialists indicated preventive actions on the beaches, which are part of the Marine National Park. The Chico Mendes Institute informed that, over the last ten months, improvements were made to reduce the geological risk, such as the adoption of the use of helmets to access the Baía dos Porcos trail.
