Social sports project supported by TJAP participates in the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro international tournament – ​​News of Brazil

This weekend, May 27th and 28th, the Federal Institute of Amapá Gym (IFAP) received the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) Tour, international tournament organized by the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of the State of Amapá (Fejja) and with the support of the Municipal Secretary of Sport and Leisure.

The event brought together athletes from Brazil, French Guiana, British Guiana and Suriname. 14 students from the “Teen Carlos Galeto Project”a social sports project that receives support from the Court of Justice of Amapá (TJAP), through the State Coordination for Childhood and Youth of the State of Amapá (CEIJ), whose coordinator is Judge Gilbright Pine

Existing for 10 years, the Carlos Galeto Teen Project is located in the Cidade Nova neighborhood, at the Divina Misericórdia Community Center. In addition to Jiu-Jitsu, the initiative offers other martial arts – such as Muay Thay, Boxing, Judo and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) – for children and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 17 who are in a situation of social vulnerability.

On the last May 22nd, TJAP delivered 10 tatami mats for training and 26 kimonos to the project, clothing that was used by the athletes in the competition. “I really appreciate the support of the Court, which gave us kimonos and all the materials we used in our training. We participated in the championship thanks to Judge Gilberto and his entire CEIJ team”highlights Carlos Soares, project teacher.

With a lot of training and thanks to the effort and determination of the athletes, the team won 10 medals in this competition, seven gold and three silver. “It is very rewarding to be able to contribute to happiness, to a child’s future. Sport brings this desire to want to be, to want to be and to grow”points out the legal assistant Beatriz Brazao, CEIJ representative.
