Sidney Magal celebrates his life and work in a multimedia exhibition in São Paulo

In the musical core, the public will be able to listen to recordings that, made around 45 years ago, still sustain the fame of the interpreter of Latin lover (Rabito, 1973, in Portuguese version by Antônio Carlos, 1977) and Sandra Rosa Madalena, the gypsy (Miguel Cidras and Robert Livi, 1978). In the television section, entitled Alô, Terezinha, in allusion to the catchphrase of presenter Abelardo Barbosa (1917 – 1988), Chacrinha, it will be possible to (re)see Magal’s participation in auditorium programs at the height of her fame. In the cinematographic core, Sétima Arte, the focus is on films such as Latin Lover (1979) – directed by Pedro Rovai (1938 – 2018) with a script by Paulo Coelho – and the still unpublished Meu Sangue Ferva Com Você, based on the love story of Magal with Magali West, directed by Joana Mariani (also director of the recent documentary Me chama que eu vou) and starring Filipe Bragança, an actor endorsed by Magal, who praised Bragança when he saw the recording of the scene that reproduces the singer’s show in the feverish 1970s , a decade in which Magal challenged patriarchal standards of good behavior with body rolls and shiny skintight clothes. Costumes used in the films will be on display in this section of the exhibition.
