Procon-AM advises consumers to purchase Valentine’s Day gifts

Recommendation is to search for trusted stores and websites that have an established exchange policy

Manaus(AM)- The Consumer Protection Institute (Procon-AM) alerts and gives tips to consumers in relation to the Valentine’s Day trade campaign, celebrated next Monday (12). The objective is for consumers to be aware of this period of offers and to take some precautions so that they are not harmed or even harmed after the purchase.

To avoid this type of situation, the director-president of the agency, Jalil Fraxe, explains that the date has a great affective appeal, but prudence and responsibility are needed. He stressed that one cannot let emotion take over one’s pocket when giving gifts. Avoid impulse purchases and analyze whether it will impact your budget over the next few months.

Research is fundamental and can be done through the internet, using tools that not only show prices but also the evolution in previous periods. There are also platforms that bring together promotions from different group buying sites. However, they are not responsible for any problems in the marketing of products and services, as they only publish existing offers.

When purchasing through online channels, it is important to verify the origin of the website. Make sure the company exists, if it has a physical address and a relationship channel with the consumer. “In order not to fall into traps, when accessing the electronic address, check if a padlock appears in the left corner of the search bar. Another tip is to check the store’s classification on ‘Complain Here’”, explained Fraxe.

One of the main guidelines is on payment terms. Currently, cash options are offered, for payment in installments by credit card or bank slip, but the recommendation is that, if possible, settle the amount as soon as possible. “Many stores offer good discounts for paying in cash and the price is usually lower in relation to the total amount financed”, informed Jalil Fraxe, and added: “If the consumer still opts for installment payments, check the interest rate established in the contract and tax burdens so as not to be surprised”.

When passing the celebrations, if it is necessary to exchange the product, it is important to emphasize that the establishment is not obliged to exchange the products without defects, only if this option is presented to the consumer in advance. The same goes for exchanges due to color, size or taste, which, in these cases, the supplier can set conditions that must be informed clearly and in writing.
