Post lies when saying that Caixa president will receive compensation for sexual harassment case – 03/14/2023 – Market

A false publication circulates on social networks and messaging applications according to which the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Maria Rita Serrano, will receive the amount of the agreement signed by the bank with the MPT (Ministério Público do Trabalho) to close the process involving accusations of sexual harassment by Pedro Guimarães, its former leader – he denies the accusations.

“An unspeakable scandal. With the PT it’s like this: everything is sordid. The president of Caixa decides that she herself, the harassed one, will receive a R$ 10 million fine for the harassment. And who pays? Caixa. don’t want to privatize these public companies?” wrote one Twitter user.

First, unlike the tweet, she was not one of the women who denounced Guimarães for sexual harassment. In an interview with Globo, last year, when she was a representative of employees on Caixa’s Board of Directors, Serrano said that the then president tried to intimidate her, but nothing related to sexual harassment.

In addition, Caixa told the Sheet that the president of the bank “is not, in any way, a beneficiary of any agreement that involves the action of Pedro Guimarães, nor does she have personal action against him”. The institution also says that “the author of the collective action involving the complaints is the Public Ministry of Labor”.

Also wanted, the MPT did not confirm the allocation of the amount because the agreement was not signed, but stated that “compensations are paid directly by the company condemned to the final destination, be it a social project, acquisition and donations of goods, campaigns, to the FAT ( Worker Support Fund etc.”.
