Proposal aims to guarantee tax benefit to patients

Manaus (AM) – Bill (PL) No. 2224/2023, authored by federal deputy Saullo Vianna (União-AM), extends the concession of Income Tax exemption on retirement income for people with diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia. The proposal seeks to alleviate the financial burden of these people dealing with chronic medical conditions, allowing them to keep a greater portion of their disposable income for their well-being and necessary treatments.

Saullo Vianna highlighted the importance of supporting people with these medical conditions: “Our objective is to guarantee a more humane treatment and make life easier for these people, who already face many challenges on a daily basis. The Income Tax exemption on retirement income can contribute significantly to alleviating financial pressure and ensuring that they have adequate resources for their well-being and necessary medical care”, said the deputy.

For the parliamentarian, if approved, the Income Tax exemption will benefit thousands of retirees who fight daily against diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia, providing important financial relief in the midst of the challenges posed by these medical conditions.

Learn more- More than 13 million Brazilians, about 6.9% of the country’s population, face the challenges of diabetes, a serious metabolic condition. Carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by compression of the median nerve, especially affects those who perform repetitive movements on a daily basis and can be aggravated by fractures or chronic diseases such as diabetes and autoimmune problems.

Fibromyalgia, on the other hand, brings intense pain in the joints and muscles, accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances and depression. These measures proposed by Saullo Vianna’s bill are intended to ease the financial burden and improve the quality of life for patients with these medical conditions in Brazil.
