PL deputy says that vote was endorsed by Bolsonaro – 05/24/2023 – Panel

Federal deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) states that the votes of the PL in favor of the fiscal framework were the result of an agreement sewn directly with the rapporteur, Cláudio Cajado (PP-BA).

The agreement was the delivery of 30 votes in exchange for changes in the text, among them, the maintenance of the prediction of punishment to the President of the Republic in case of non-compliance.

Support for the text, considered vital by the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), was endorsed by former president Jair Bolsonaro and the president of the party, Valdemar Costa Neto.

The government’s victory in approving the basic text of the new fiscal framework in the Chamber was achieved with the support of deputies allied with the President of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and exposed dissent between parties aligned with the Planalto Palace.

In the PL, the votes represented 30% of the opposition bench to Lula. PSOL advised against.
