The Award prioritizes projects by teachers and managers focused on the Sustainable Development Goals, from kindergarten to high school

Until the 21st of July, enrollment is open for one of the greatest honors in Brazilian Education, the Educator Note 10 Award. The initiative is a co-realization of the Somos Institute, a non-profit entity maintained by Somos Educação, with the Victor Civita Foundation. The 25th edition will recognize nine good learning practices designed by teachers and school administrators, from kindergarten to high school. Enrollment is free and to participate and check the regulation just access the website.

The novelty of the 2023 edition is its alignment with the United Nations Global Agenda 2030, which encompasses 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to combat poverty, ensure rights, promote and combat climate change. In line with these values, the themes of the 25th edition of the Award will be: Human Rights, Innovation and Technology and Sustainability. In this way, each initiative entered in the Prize must integrate one of the three axes.

In total, three prizes will be awarded per category. Third place winners will receive a gift card worth R$10,000, a full postgraduate scholarship from the Anhanguera educational institution and 12 months of access to the PROFs platform, Somos Educação’s educator training system. Second prize winners will receive a R$15,000 voucher and will have access to the other benefits of the third-place winners.

The winners of each category will earn R$ 25,000, in addition to other benefits, and will compete for the category Educator of the Year. The winner of the best project will earn an additional R$ 25,000 for investment in services, products and infrastructure at the school where the project was carried out.

selection and schedule

The selection of projects takes place in three stages: Administrative Screening, Selection of the Technical Committee and Opinion of the Evaluation Committee.

  • In the first phase, the documents and the format of the projects are evaluated. Those who do not fit the parameters are disqualified.
  • In the next stage, the Technical Committee evaluates the programs according to objective criteria such as topic relevance, student learning and project replicability and continuity.
  • Then, the Evaluation Committee selects three finalists per thematic axis among those selected, totaling nine winners in the three categories (Human Rights, Innovation and Technology and Sustainability).
  • Finally, the projects nominated for first place compete with each other to find out who is the Educator of the Year.

The selection process for projects takes place between August and September. In early October, the nine finalists for the Award will be announced and, at the end of the month, the award event will take place in São Paulo. The Educator of the Year will be announced at the ceremony.

Projects can be registered on the Award platform between 06/01/2023 and 07/21/2023. Only initiatives carried out during 2022 that show signs of continuity and can be replicated in other environments can be entered.

The Prize, which was created in 1998 by the Victor Civita Foundation, from 2023 onwards will be co-organized by the Somos Institute. The initiative has Themedia support from the Abril group, sponsorship from BDO Brasil and support from Nova Escola, the Rodrigo Mendes Institute and the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).
