“No one was more left-wing than Jesus Christ”, says Lula

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated that “no one was more left-wing than Jesus Christ”. The new nod to Christians took place on Thursday night (17) during a rally in support of the PT candidate, Luiz Caetano, and his vice-president, Pastora Déa (PSB), in Camaçari (BA).

“I’m very proud to see Caetano find a deputy, a black woman, a pastor. There is nothing more extraordinary than this union of two left-wing parties. We are not afraid to say that we are left-wing, because no one was more left-wing than Jesus Christ. Nobody”, he reinforced.

Lula has taken advantage of official agendas to participate in more campaign events for allies. Caetano is a former mayor of the municipality and is running in the second round against Flávio Matos (União).

Furthermore, he intensified attempts to reach out to evangelical voters. On the 15th, the PT member sanctioned the law that establishes Gospel Music Day in a ceremony in Planalto with the presence of politicians representing the segment.

During his speech, Lula said that the “rich” ordered Jesus to be crucified and highlighted that “no granfino” will take care of the population.

“No one fought more for the poor than Jesus Christ. It is precisely because of fighting for the poor, caring for the sick, caring for those most in need that the rich of the time ordered Jesus Christ to be crucified. We cannot forget this, because it is not a grandparent who will take care of you”, he emphasized.

Lula says Bolsonaro “doesn’t believe in God”

The PT member said that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) “invented that he is evangelical” to win the 2018 elections. For Lula, Bolsonaro “does not believe in God” and was elected to “distill hatred in the hearts of millions of people from good faith who believed his lies.”

“We cannot make the mistake of 2018, when instead of voting for a partner with the quality of [Fernando] Haddad, he voted for something, he voted for something that no one knew about except for telling lies and preaching hate”, pointed out the president.

“He even invented being evangelical. He doesn’t believe in God and he doesn’t believe in God because his behavior is that of someone who doesn’t believe,” he added.

“Machos of the country” removed Dilma from the presidency

At the beginning of his speech, Lula recalled the impeachment process faced by President Dilma Rousseff (PT) in 2016. He highlighted that Dilma was the target of the “males of the country” who did not accept a woman as president.

“I handed over the presidency of the Republic to a female comrade for the first time in the history of this country. And because a woman governed, which was comrade Dilma, the males of this country, having no respect for a woman who – as a girl 20 years old, was arrested and tortured [durante a ditadura militar]with shock everywhere -, this woman assumed the presidency of the Republic to continue the government that we had been carrying out”, he stated.

“Not only did they impeach Dilma, after an invented lie, they also invented Lava Jato to take me out of the electoral race”, added the president.
