Ministers Fernando Haddad, from Finance, and Simone Tebet, from Planning, are going to present the complete project of the new fiscal framework this Friday (17th) to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The meeting will take place at 3 pm and will also include the presence of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who is also Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services; Esther Dweck, from Management and Innovation in Public Services; and Rui Costa, from the Civil House.

“He [Lula] scored the day after tomorrow
[sexta-feira]therefore, the meeting for the details to be presented, I have already talked to him about the matter”, said Haddad to journalists on Wednesday (15) after leaving the Ministry of Finance.

The presentation of the final version of the new fiscal rule is anxiously awaited by the financial market and has been kept secret by Haddad and Tebet, who only mentioned general lines in a few statements to the press in recent days.

Earlier this week, Haddad had confirmed that he had finalized the design of the fiscal framework approved by the different teams in the economic area, and handed the project over to Lula in a quick meeting on Tuesday. Asked if he had already seen the text on a visit to Itaipu this Thursday (16th), the president said that he had not yet and that he would only become fully aware of it this Friday (17th).

Minister Simone Tebet said, last week, that the design of the new fiscal rule will “please everyone, including the market” when asked about the general lines of the project.
