Moro: Lula sets a bad example of fake news and hate speech – 01/04/2023 – Politics

Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) criticized this Saturday (1st) the speech by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) that the plan discovered by the Federal Police of an attack by the criminal faction PCC against him and other authorities would have been a “frame”.

“We have a whole concern for information, fake news, hate speech, and we have had a bad example from our highest representative, the president of the republic, in the last two weeks”, said Moro to Sheet.

Moro’s speech to the report took place in the United States shortly before participating in the Brazil Conference, an event organized by students from Harvard and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) universities, in Cambridge, in the Boston region.

Moro stated that he learned of the plan at the end of January and has since reinforced the security scheme, which “is maintained until we can have a more peaceful scenario.”

The senator stated that he will join a CPMI of organized crime to “supervise the public security policies of the federal government”.

“What all these events reveal is that we have to fight against organized crime, that’s why I presented a bill to strengthen the protection of law enforcement agents and also criminalize the planning of attacks against law enforcement agents,” he said.

Last week, the Federal Police carried out 11 arrest warrants and a series of steps to dismantle a PCC plan that would be underway to attack authorities, including Moro, a former Lava Jato judge.

The PF claims in an arrest warrant sent to the court that the attack plan was imminent and that the faction monitored places that the former minister frequented.

The operation divided the Lula government. While the president and some close advisors intensified the dispute with opponents by suggesting, without evidence, that Moro was “set up” in the case, other allies regretted the president’s statement and launched an operation to try to correct the official discourse.

This Saturday, asked about the return of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to Brazil this week, he declined to comment. “About Bolsonaro, no. I’ll talk about the conference.”
