Moraes revokes removal of Ibaneis Rocha from the DF government
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined this Wednesday (15), the revocation of the removal of the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB). He had been away since January 9, after the coup acts that culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the three Powers.
In the decision, Moraes points out that the requirements for maintaining the precautionary measure are no longer present. The governor is the subject of investigation by the STF for suspected failure to act in relation to the January 8 attacks. According to the magistrate, there is no risk that the governor’s return to public office could compromise the investigation or cause a repetition of the investigated acts.
“The Judiciary Police’s Analysis Reports concerning the investigated person do not show evidence that he was seeking to obstruct or harm the investigative work, or even destroying evidence”, said Moraes in the decision. The Attorney General’s Office had already expressed itself in favor of revoking the removal.
