Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, revoked this Wednesday (15) the removal of the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha. The decision responds to a demonstration by the Attorney General’s Office that asked for the return of Ibaneis, on the last 10th.

Ibaneis was removed from office after the acts of vandalism on January 8, by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, which was endorsed by the Plenary of the Court, due to suspicion of connivance and indications of influence in “serious failures in the performance of security agencies public of the Federal District”. Since the removal of Ibaneis, who would win on April 9, the Federal District has been temporarily commanded by the deputy governor, Celina Leão (PP).

When determining the “return of the investigated to the public function for which he was elected”, Moraes informed that he followed the recommendation based on the “Analysis reports of the Judiciary Police”, which carried out diligences, reports and depositions. The documents reinforced that Ibaneis would not “be seeking to obstruct or harm investigative work, or even destroy evidence”.

Even returning to office, the governor continues to be investigated in the investigation that investigates acts of vandalism in the DF. In the decision, Moraes pointed out that “the precautionary measure may, ex officio or at the request of the parties, be decreed again, if there are reasons that justify it”.

In a note released to the press this Wednesday afternoon (15), Ibaneis spoke about Moraes’ decision: “I waited with great patience, resilience and confidence in the justice of my country, this moment of return to the position that I assumed by the will of the people of the Federal District, who elected me in the first round for a second term. Now it’s time to firmly confirm my innocence with the STF and work even harder for the city that I love so much”.
