Marçal declares support for Ramagem in Rio and offers help
The candidate for mayor of São Paulo Pablo Marçal (PRTB) declared on Saturday night (28), via video on social networks, his support for federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL) in the race for mayor of Rio de Janeiro. Marçal stated that he was willing to travel to the capital of Rio de Janeiro “if necessary” to “help in this war”.
Ramagem, who has the support of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), occupies second position in voting intention polls. “Range for mayor, Eduardo Paes has already done it. Don’t lose hope, put someone from public security to solve Rio’s main problem. Here it is, my brother, my heartfelt support. You go to the second round and we will win”, said Marçal.
Meanwhile, in São Paulo, Bolsonaro intensifies his presence in the campaign for current mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), who is seeking re-election. Last week, the former president recorded a video asking for votes for Nunes and indirectly criticized Marçal, after the influencer compared the knife attack suffered by Bolsonaro in 2018 with the chair he received from his opponent José Luiz Datena (PSDB).
Bolsonaro took the opportunity to reaffirm his support for Nunes’ reelection, making his most direct request for a vote so far in the São Paulo campaign. The former president also minimized Datena’s attack, saying that it was greatly provoked by Marçal. Despite the PL’s formal support, Nunes has faced difficulty in winning over the electorate more aligned with Bolsonaro, who seems to identify more with Marçal’s anti-system style.
On the other hand, Marçal shared on his social networks an excerpt from an interview in which Bolsonaro, weeks ago, commented that Nunes was not the “dream candidate” and praised Marçal, saying that he was “intelligent” and had “his virtues”. . The nod to Ramagem is part of the strategy of reaffirming affinities with other right-wing names linked to the former president.
In a motorcade in Rio with Nikolas and Carlos Bolsonaro, Ramagem shows confidence
Ramagem led a motorcade this Saturday afternoon (28) in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the city. The event was attended by several PL parliamentarians, including federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (MG) and councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (RJ), who accompanied Ramagem on the electric trio.
Former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Ramagem showed confidence that he will advance to the second round, where he will face current mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD). When asked about pastors’ support for Paes, he replied that “Christian people” know who “really defends family values” without opportunism.
“Our administrative proposals also reflect this, without the issue of gender ideology, without drug release and against abortion,” he stated.
Regarding the possible loss of support within his own party, the candidate denied the speculation, highlighting that he is growing in the polls and confident that he will reach the second round, promising a turnaround in the dispute. “We are going to remove this mayor who promises and doesn’t deliver, who guaranteed security, order, integration and didn’t do it”, he concluded.
