Manaus City Hall informs that the More Doctors for Brazil Program, of the Federal Government, will provide 256 vacancies to work in the city of Manaus. Registration for the program will open this Friday, 5/26, and must be made by next Wednesday, 5/31, through the link maismedicos.saude.gov.br.

The holder of the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa), Shádia Fraxe, explains that the doctors summoned through the program will strengthen the services offered in Primary Health Care (PHC), mainly in care gaps in the capital of Amazonas. The forecast is that the new doctors begin to work at the end of June.

“We are looking forward to the arrival of the doctors and with the expectation that all vacancies in Manaus will be filled, so we will be able to expand the coverage of Primary Care and further improve assistance to the population”, says Shádia.

The Ministry of Health released the public notice for the program with 5,900 vacancies, distributed in 1,900 municipalities in Brazil. The folder highlighted that Brazilian professionals trained in the country or with a diploma revalidated in Brazil will have priority in the selection. Brazilian physicians trained in foreign institutions with qualifications to practice medicine in the country where they work, and foreign physicians with qualifications to practice medicine abroad, may also apply.

Management

The technique of the Board of Primary Care of Semsa, Meiriane Ferreira, explains that the secretariat is responsible for managing the professionals of the Mais Médicos program sent to the municipality, and for their insertion in the teams of the Family Health Strategy (ESF).

“Currently, the biggest gaps in care are in the East and North zones of the city, and the management intends to allocate doctors in these regions to expand the service”, he said.

Meiriane points out that, until then, the number of vacancies in the program for Manaus reached 100 (going up to 150 in the pandemic). With the 256 vacancies offered by the new announcement, the municipality will be able to more than double the number of professionals hired to integrate the teams in the primary care network.
