Lula’s stance on the war in Israel, Iran and Lebanon
– Episode of the 15 Minutos podcast talks about Lula’s statements and positions on the war in the Middle East
*) The world is following with apprehension the worsening of the crisis in the Middle East. How far will this new phase of the war go, a direct conflict involving powers like Israel and Iran?
With this escalation of tension in the Middle East this week, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has intensified criticism against Israel.
“I deeply regret the behavior of the Israeli government. Honestly, it is inexplicable that the UN Security Council does not have the moral and political authority to make Israel sit at a table to talk, instead of just knowing how to kill,” said Lula in an interview this Tuesday (1st) during a trip to Mexico.
Lula’s statements about the war, as well as statements from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are the most recent evidence that the government is abandoning the tradition of neutrality in Brazilian diplomacy, according to analysts interviewed by the People’s Gazette.
