Linda Yaccarino starts duties as new CEO of Twitter – 06/06/2023 – Market

Twitter’s new chief executive Linda Yaccarino has taken up her duties at the social media company, she said Monday night, about a month after Elon Musk named her to the position.

“It happened — day one!” the executive tweeted, without providing further details.

Yaccarino, the former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, is taking over Twitter as the social media platform tries to reverse a slump in ad revenue.

Musk, who served as chief executive after buying the company for $44 billion last October, has previously said that Yaccarino will help build an “app for everything”.

Former NBCUniversal executive Joe Benarroch also joined Twitter on Monday. He oversaw the communications strategy for the Advertising and Partnerships division of the Comcast-owned company, reporting to Yaccarino, prior to joining Twitter.

Yaccarino, 60, is a very important figure in advertising and has strong relationships with marketing professionals and advertising agencies, as well as links with the traditional structure of world business, such as the World Economic Forum, of which she is one of the presidents.

According to the Financial Times, Twitter investors are hoping Yaccarino will be a firm hand in repairing Musk’s rocky relationship with advertisers, who are the company’s main source of revenue. The appointment comes as Musk has struggled to keep the platform’s finances under control, leading a dramatic restructuring and cost-cutting effort that critics say has caused internal chaos and technical problems for users.
