Josenildo proposes granting income tax deduction for those who make donations to NGOs for the protection and defense of animals – News of Brazil

The Animal Cause is one of the great agendas of the mandate of federal deputy Josenildo Abrantes (PDT-AP), and this Tuesday, March 14, National Animal Day, the parliamentarian filed a bill in the Federal Chamber that intends to grant the individuals and companies the right to deduct from their income tax donations to non-profit civil society organizations and entities for the protection, welfare and defense of animals.
The bill also provides for individuals to be able to deduct expenses with food, veterinarians, hospitals and veterinary clinics in their annual income tax return. “Caring for animals is a duty of guardians and citizens, but it is also fair to allow this deduction in the IR for those who contribute or promote animal welfare.”, defends Josenildo.
Josenildo joined the Parliamentary Front in defense of the animal cause, in the Federal Chamber, and has been working hard to expand this policy with actions at the level of Brazil and Amapá. On the last 6th, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Animal Welfare, Laudenice Monteiro, Josenildo met with representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, to discuss the creation of a National Secretariat for Animal Welfare, whose objective is to expanding public animal protection policies in Brazil, helping states and municipalities in the implementation of actions that minimize violence such as mistreatment, abandonment, trafficking, as well as control of zoonoses that also represent a danger to public health.
Last weekend, the parliamentarian met with the mayor of the municipality of Santana, Bala Rocha, and the president of the city council, Josivaldo Abrantes, to discuss the implementation of specific public policies for the animal cause, such as educational campaigns, expansion of vaccination coverage, veterinary assistance and the creation of a department or municipal coordination to specifically take care of police for domestic or domesticated animals such as dogs and cats.
He also visited the NGO Anjos Protetores, an organization that defends the animal cause, which has been in the state for over 10 years. During the visit, the parliamentarian donated 165 kilos of feed, equivalent to a week of food for the animals housed in the NGO’s space. By becoming a supporter with monthly donations, the parliamentarian also aims to encourage society in general and the private sector to also strengthen this important public health policy.
