Jorginho sees improvement in Coritiba and maintains focus on access
The technician Jorginho see the Coritiba more courageous and confident after the coach arrived at Alto da Glória at the end of July. Even though it is still far from access, the coach highlighted the improvement that the team had in the Series B league table.
This Friday (27), Coxa drew with Goiás, at Couto Pereira, in the 29th round of the Second Division. The result was not good for a race for access, and Coxa wasted points at home, remaining five behind the G4.
“I see my team confident, giving everything, of course we received reinforcements that are important, these players gave a different tone, opportunities to play. Even though our fans are hurt, even though the fans have this distrust, I think my arrival brought this courage, this strength and I see it daily“, said Jorginho, at a press conference.

Even with the bad result for Alviverde’s trajectory in the Second Division, Jorginho stated that he still sees access as possible, even if it is more difficult. The coach also spoke about the team’s performance against Goiás and said that Coxa could have won the game.
“I think it was such an open match for both sides. The defensive and offensive transitions were constant, the volume of play was intense. It’s a good thing we have a week off, because the players gave everything. For me, it was the best first half of the team in the entire championship”, said Jorginho.
“Things have become a little more difficult, but we are alive. There are nine finals, no fan can complain that it didn’t work, we gave our all. We have to lift our heads, move forward and focus on the América-MG game“, he added.

Team improved with Jorginho
After Jorginho’s arrival at the Alto da Glória team, Coxa improved their campaign in Série B. The team came to lead the return of the competition and had the longest undefeated streak of its entire history in the current Second Season, with four games without losing.
Still, the performance was not good enough to place Alviverde in the G4, a feat not yet achieved this season. On the other hand, with Jorginho, Coxa didn’t have to worry about the relegation zone for Serie C.
Previously, the team came within two points of Z4 when it was still under coach Fábio Matias. Since then, the team has gone from 15th place to eighth and is currently five points away from the classification zone.
Coritiba has remote chances of access in 2024
Coxa’s chances of winning a place in the 2025 Series A decreased with the draw at Couto Pereira. In nine games, the team needs to gain 22 points to reach 63 points, the average that guaranteed access in the last ten years.
To do this, Alviverde would need to win at least seven games and draw one to get a place in the First Division. However, in the final rounds the team faces clubs that are fighting to enter the G4: América-MG (seventh place), Vila Nova (sixth), Mirassol (fourth) and Santos (second place).
On the other hand, Coritiba still plays with teams that are in the second part of the table, some fighting to not be relegated to Series C: Amazonas (11th), Paysandu (14th), CRB (19th), Chapecoense (13th) and Botafogo- SP (16th).
