INSS retirees: see discounts on the new card – 05/25/2023 – Market

Since Monday (22), beneficiaries of the INSS (National Social Security Institute) can prove their income through the virtual wallet launched in the Meu INSS application. The card eliminates the need for a printed document, in addition to providing access to discounts and benefits for policyholders.

Launched jointly with the Ministry of Social Security, the portfolio has the Meu INSS+ virtual card, used to prove the link with the institute. With it, policyholders can obtain discounts at pharmacies, cinemas and other establishments through a partnership with Banco do Brasil and Caixa Econômica Federal.

At Banco do Brasil, it is not necessary to be an account holder, just access the page bb.com.br/minhapagina with the Gov.br registration to access the coupons. At Caixa Econômica Federal, you must be a bank customer and the benefits are linked to other services.

The INSS says that the expectation is that private banks will also join the program.

What are the benefits of the new INSS card?

Meu INSS+ can be used by retirees, pensioners and beneficiaries of INSS aid. The virtual wallet can be accessed through the Meu INSS application, through the “Beneficiary Wallet” icon.

The presentation of the card provides discounts at specific establishments, bank partners. According to Banco do Brasil, offers are dynamic, with coupons subject to change or renewal according to negotiation with partners. Some promotions available during launch week are:

• 10% discount on Petlove pet products website
• R$ 100 discount on cookware set with induction base
• 10% discount on Pix for the purchase of Positivo and Vaio notebooks
• one month of free telemedicine with Ciclic
• 12% discount on Apple, Samsung and Motorola smartphones on the Trocafy website
• 12% discount for smartphones, electronics and home appliances at the Mobcom store
• 12% discount at the Wolff and Lyor housewares and decoration store
• Movida car rental discounts
• one month free subscription to a fitness or meditation app

The complete and updated list can be checked on the website bb.com.br/minhapagina, with access through the Gov.br register. Account holders of the institution can check the benefits in the application.

At Caixa Econômica Federal, only account holders have access to benefits. The bank offers special conditions for payment with Caixa Elo cards, such as:

• up to 30% discount at Extrafarma pharmacy
• 30% discount at Panvel Pharmacy
• up to 40% discount at Farmalife, Drogarias Tamoio, Drogaria Rosário and Drogasmil pharmacies
• Up to 75% discount at Pague Menos, Drogarias Pacheco and Drogaria São Paulo pharmacies
• 15% discount on the Sportswear department on the Centauro website
• half price and 50% off caramel popcorn at the Cinemark cinema chain

Union says there are more urgent issues at the INSS

The launch was criticized by Sindnapi (National Union of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly People). The president of the institution, João Inocentini, said that there are more urgent issues to be resolved by the INSS, such as increasing the queues of insured persons.

“Social security does not have enough people to do the essentials, it does not have money to improve service. This is worrying, as there is a risk of increasing demand and not being able to meet it, generating more discontent and provoking new lawsuits”, said in a note. Another criticism was the lack of debate with representatives of workers and the elderly before launching the product.

Sought by the report, the INSS declared that the beneficiary’s portfolio was made to eliminate a step in proving the status of retiree or pensioner, and that the Meu INSS+ virtual card is the result of a partnership with public banks to give discounts to policyholders. According to the institute, both services do not depend on analysis and do not require staffing.

The institute also stated that, in the next few days, the thousand candidates approved in the last selection will be nominated. “These new servers will work on the analysis of benefits. With that, the analyzes should occur with greater fluidity”, he said, in a note. The body also cited measures such as the automatic granting of benefits to citizens who meet the requirements and have their documentation up to date, in addition to carrying out joint efforts.

As for the lack of debate with sectors of society, the INSS stated that the virtual cards (identification and discounts) “will in no way burden retirees, pensioners and aid recipients. There is no negative impact for these citizens.”
