In Foz, Lula meets family of murdered PT member – 03/16/2023 – Politics

On his way this Thursday (16) through Paraná, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) met with the family of Marcelo Arruda, the municipal guard and PT militant shot dead by Bolsonarist criminal police officer Jorge Guaranho in July 2022 , in Foz do Iguaçu.

Lula’s meeting with his family took place before the inauguration ceremony of former federal deputy Enio Verri (PT) in charge of Itaipu Binacional, in Foz.

“Today, in Foz do Iguaçu, I met the family of Marcelo Arruda, cowardly murdered by a hatred that we cannot accept. My solidarity with his partner, Pâmela Silva, and their children, who will carry the memory and pride of their father”, wrote Lula .

He released the images of the meeting on his official Twitter profile.

Guaranho is in prison and is accused of double murder. He is still awaiting trial.

On the night of July 9 last year, the criminal police invaded Marcelo’s birthday party, which was celebrating his 50th birthday with a PT theme, and shot at the municipal guard.

The petista, already wounded on the ground, also shot the Bolsonarist, who was admitted to a hospital before being transferred to prison. Security cameras recorded the crime.

Accompanied by her children, the widow Pamela Silva described the meeting as moving. “We don’t even know what to say because he is a kind, generous person”.

Pamela told Lula that she and her husband had planned this moment together.

Marcelo’s son, Leonardo Miranda Arrudam, told the president that he even asked PT members in Foz for Lula to send congratulations to his father via message. “I even told him, it was a very unusual story because one day we ask him to send congratulations and the next day Lula sends a wreath of flowers”.
